Talking about hostel that actually understand every backpacker's need, Song Of Travel Hostel is the one ! Song Of Travel Hostel is Inle Lake’s only hostel and also Myanmar’s 1st hostel built from the ground-up for backpackers. Song Of Travel Hostel is also confident that they are the world’s only hostel designed as a three-story boombox. It took me awhile standing outside looking at Song Of Travel Hostel trying to figure out, does it really look like a boombox ? It does .. ! haha, my brain is just so slow in processing that little piece of information ... image processing is too slow inside my brain, haha !
One of the main reason that makes me want to stay here is the boombox design itself, haha ! It looks cool, doesn't it ?
Secondly they provide plenty of free bicycles for their customer to use. I just need to go to their reception and exchange my bed locker key for a bicycle key and off i go cycling around Inle Lake area. Their bicycles need to be return to them by 10.00 pm every night.
Third, they provide free breakfast daily ! Their breakfast is simple but filling and yummy, just enough for me to take on the day ahead. Song Of Travel Hostel breakfast menu change daily base on what they wrote on their notice black board.
On their notice board, you can also find activities that they will be having daily, activities that they organize specially just for their backpacking customers, haha, awesome right ? i just love it ! You can even ask them for Inle Lake Boat Trip or Red Mountain Estate Vineyards cycling trip, the have it here at Song Of Travel Hostel.

Song Of Travel Hostel also serve dinner which is simple, tasty and reasonable price. Though their dinner menu is kinda limited but it is enough for me to fill up my tummy at night before going to sleep.
Reason number four on why i choose to stay here ! Song Of Travel Hostel provide free drinking water, free coffee and tea, free biscuit, milk tea, hot water .. you name it, they have it ! oh, Inle Lake famous Shan Tea ? It's all there, free from Song Of Travel Hostel ! Even their local made Cigars the Cheroots is also free .. !
I don't see any reason for me not to stay here .. ! Oh, lastly, of course the environment and the bad is also equally important for us backpackers who want comfortable rest at night. Trust me, that is already taken care of. Environment inside Song Of Travel Hostel is really comfortable, beds are clean with curtains that give extra privacy, wifi is strong, toilet is clean and plentiful so that you don't have to wait in line to use their toilet, staff are great and helpful yet friendly, peoples staying here are equally awesome. Oh, one thing about their wifi here, at 7.00 pm until 9.00 pm daily, Song Of Travel Hostel will turn off their wifi. They call it the 'Social' time, a time where everyone stop looking at their phone and talk to each other. Awesome right ? a really good effort and concept to get people talking to each other. Thumbs up to them for such a good idea.
You just need to be here at their rooftop common area during sunset or sunrise, as you wish ! The view is great !
Specious dorm, comfortable bed and with air conditioning. All their dorm room apply the quiet hours rules where you need to be quiet in what ever you do from 10.00 pm until 7.00 am when inside the dorm room as many people may already be a sleep or resting on their bed. We won't want to irritate them with loud noise right ?
Lockers for everyone under dorm bed with lock provided, just obtain the key from reception during check in.
Clean towel is also provided.
Individual bed have their own personal reading lights and power socket. Song Of Travel Hostel is really the best place to stay in Inle Lake and i can say that this is by far the best place i have stayed in Myanmar. I highly recommend this place.
Getting There :
Song Of Travel Hostel is a three story boombox on a renamed street in Nyaung Shwe, so the address is not recognizable by locals but the building is very well known. Show your driver a photo of Song Of Travel Hostel and they will know how to take you there.
The moment i reach Nyaung Shwe town by bus early in the morning, i already being approached by drivers who is already waiting. You can easily get public sharing car to Song Of Travel Hostel even if it is late at night and it only cost me Ks 2000 per person.
Nyaung Shwe is a small town actually, from the place where the bus drop me off, i can actually walk all the way to Song Of Travel Hostel, which is not far, probably around 2 to 3 km but i didn't, you can, if you want but depending on your location at that point of time. You might need to hire a car if it is too far.
